More about the sessions:
Lunch beat – If It’s Your First Time at Lunch Beat, You Have To Dance
Lunch Beat was founded by Molly
Rängein June 2010, and the first event was arranged in the Fabel garage under Hötorget in the city of Stockholm, Sweden. 14 people attended the event. During the autumn of 2010, the underground movement organically kept growing, and had to find new locations as more and more people started to attend the event. As autumn 2011 arrived, Lunch Beat started to grow more rapidly, partly by the fact that the clubs where given great attention in media. Something that resulted in a strong establishment in Göteborg, as well as several other Swedish cities.
Don’t miss the Lunch Beat at the student sustainability day!
Entrepreneurship! - makes the world a better place
What we ultimately need in order to
realize a sustainable future is people with entrepreneurial capacity. We need the individuals and teams willing to search for new opportunities, try new ways, and find creative solutions to difficult challenges. Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship offers a unique education where entrepreneurial students are given the opportunity to combine their creativity with tools, guidance and support that will allow them to shape a sustainable future.
This presentation will introduce three different perspectives of how the students at Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship work for a sustainable future.
- WaveTube develops solutions for harnessing energy from ocean waves.
- With a patented thermal solar collector made of plastic, Panelito offers the customer “green” hot water without large investment costs.
- Knowel is a social entrepreneurship venture which aims to spread the knowledge needed to build a better society.
Conflict and climate change – the case of Nepal
Global environmental change is
projected to cause an increase in violent conflicts. This due to a reduction in productive resources in areas of the world already coping with food security and resources degradation issues. But is this really this simple? Take the opportunity to listen to Andrea Nightingale who gives us the bigger picture. Andrea is Associate Professor at the School of Global Studies at University of Gothenburg. At the sustainability day Andrea Nightingale will help us understand conflict and political transition in the context of climate change in Nepal. Don’t miss this interesting lecture!
Student + Research jam
One hour, six presentations and six different disciplines. During this Student & Research Jam you will get a taste of a range of different perspectives on sustainability. How is for example corruption, architecture, medicines and design connected to sustainability? Take part of these short, but knowledge-packed presentations and widen your own perspectives! The session became a great success at last year Sustainability day – one of the students commented with saying “I have never learnt so much during one hour before!”
Participating researchers and students:
Sara Renström – Design for (Un)Sustainable Behaviours
Anna Johnning– Antibiotics in the environment
Chalmers architects Galini Afentoulidou & Eva Pirri – Halo sunenergyhouse
Jan Jörnmark – abandoned places: expedition in the capital’s footsteps
Marica Grimes – Corruption
Johanna Lönngren – Engineering education for sustainable development
Moderator: Pia Hjalmarsson Handels Students for Sustainability
